Trowbridge slimming group helps town’s Foodbank

Slimming World members from North Bradley School group in Trowbridge, have been digging deep this summer holidays for their local food bank.

Consultant Sarah Dearden asked her members for ideas to help the local community and it was decided that they would like to help those that would possibly struggle over the summer months with the children on holidays. Sarah, who runs groups on Tuesdays 5.30pm & 7.30pm said “As a single mum myself I know how during the summer holidays the kids can eat you out of house and home, and for a lot of people it can be really expensive and we thought it would be a great idea to help a few people out.

“We had a box in group each week where we asked members to dive into their cupboards and donate anything they may not want or need, or when they do their weekly shop to pick up an extra item or two for the box, it was a great success.

“Hopefully we have managed to help a few families out and to take that bit of stress away from them. We have had past and present members who have had to use the food banks and it’s a wonderful service they provide.” To get details of the local food bank collection points call 07702 583143 and for details of Sarah’s group call 07787 407229
