Yoga classes in Winsley

About six years ago, I trained as a personal trainer and sports masseuse, and have been teaching exercise classes and training clients since then. I decided to attend yoga classes as well, firstly because I was curious about yoga, and secondly, as I was running quite a lot at the time, in order to stretch out muscles and regain some suppleness. I soon discovered that there were other benefits as well: I felt much calmer, and my head was less likely to be full of “stuff” after attending a class. Click here to read more

Following contributions from the public at the Saturday Market in Westbury Gardens in July, and in the Library and Museum foyer during August and September, we have mounted a Bradford on Avon Timeline covering events from the past 21 years in the town. This can be seen upstairs in the Museum at any time during Library opening hours.
In addition, the Library Meeting Room contains a mixture of materials demonstrating the work of the Museum and Museum Society over the past 21 years, including the Millennium Tapestry and panels from previous Museum Exhibitions.

Christmas Tree Festival – Dec 9th-11th

In December the Friends of Holy Trinity will be organising a Christmas Tree Festival in Holy Trinity church.
Local charities, clubs, organisations, businesses and individuals will be invited to stage a tree on a theme based on what the shop or group do.
For example, a choir might decorate a tree with notes, a green
grocer could use fresh produce, and the Brownies would use their
imagination.Entrants supply and decorate their own trees, with a notice explaining what they do or sell and with contact details.
There will be no charge for a space or for entry to see the display, though the Friends of Holy Trinity will invite donations from visitors and offer refreshments.
We shall prepare a handout for visitors listing the participants.
A highlight of the Festival will be a concert by Bradford Choral on the evening of the opening day, 9th December.
If you would like to stage a tree, please contact John Cox:

Want to join the community!
I hope this is an appropriate way to make contact with the Bradford on Avon online community! My partner and I are absolutely in love with the town, I worked there for a couple of years and we have some friends in the area, and we are first time buyers hoping to move in the new year. We’ve heard that lots of properties change hands before even reaching estate agents, and wondered whether anyone who is considering selling a 2bed period property might be able to contact us.
Hope you can help, not to worry if not.
All the best,
Alice and Lucas

New non-emergency number for local police: 101

Wiltshire Police has changed its non emergency number to 101.
The 101 number is being introduced nationally in phases and on 19
September it was launched across forces in the South West, including
Wiltshire.
Although 999 is a well recognised number to report emergencies, the 2010
British Crime Survey found that only half of the public knew which
number to call if they wanted to speak to their local police about
policing, non-urgent crime and anti-social behaviour.
Wiltshire Police’s Head of Contact Management, Chief Inspector Charlie
Armstrong, said: “Changing our non emergency contact number to 101 makes
it much easier for people to contact us. It is easy to remember and will
be used by all forces across the country by the beginning of 2012.
“We are constantly looking for ways to build on and improve our service
to the public and this change is a positive one that we are confident
will be welcomed by our communities.”
Calls to 101 cost 15p per call, irrespective of how long that call may
last. This applies to landlines and mobile phones.
People with hearing or speech impairments are able to use the non
emergency textphone number 18001 101.
The 101 number replaces the existing non emergency number (0845 408
7000) for Wiltshire Police.
The 101 number should be used for all non emergencies such as: reporting a crime, contacting local officers, getting crime prevention advice, making an appointment with a police officer or making us aware of policing issues in your area.
It does not replace 999, which should be used in an emergency, such as
when a crime is in progress, when there is danger to life or when
violence is being used or threatened.
To find out more about 101, visit the Wiltshire Police website or look out for posters and flyers.
