A combined group from Plastic-free Bradford on Avon, which is part of Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, and Bradford on Avon Rowing Club picked up bags of litter around the town and along the River Avon.

John Pearce, of Plastic-free BoA, said: “The event was well supported, with groups out all round the town.

“A large amount of litter, much of it plastic, was collected and removed. There was then a successful plastic-free picnic by the river hosted by the Rowing Club, where everyone brought and shared food and drink, avoiding any single-use plastic.”

The event was supported by Bradford on Avon Town Council as part of the campaign to gain accreditation for the town as a plastic-free community. This is a status awarded by the ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ group to towns that make significant steps to reduce single-use plastic.
