Keep Bradford Green campaign springs back to life

A planning application to build new houses on the town golf course was officially turned down just a couple of weeks ago, but now the developers have put in a fresh application.

The new application is for 195 new properties (97 for private sale, 98 social housing) clustered on the southern side of the site close to Avonfield Avenue. New access roads would be built from Greenland View and Mythern Meadow. A new public open space, with car parking and play areas, would run along the riverside; and a revamped, smaller golf course would occupy the eastern end of the site.
The application also proposes work to widen St Laurence Road between Trowbridge Road and the new entrance to the site, and a section of Culver Road.

The group that started a campaign against the proposal last time have printed out posters and distributed them around the town. They are asking local residents for support: more details are on the campaign web site.
For more information about the proposal, you might want to look at the list of supporting documents at the Council web site. The masterplan PDF document is particularly informative; as are the proposed roadworks and site map.
