Rumour: boatyard under threat?
From the MALARCHIST weblog comes this little snippet:
“Rumour has it that the wharf at B on A is likely to close. I hear that the current manager is being stung for expensive repairs to the dry dock walls. This would be damage incurred prior to him taking over the lease, and without any doubt the responsibility of BW.” [British Waterways, I think - ed]
Anyone know any more about this?
this is completly wrong. The lease is up for sale via British Waterways and whether the dry dock and boat yard continues to operate will be determined by whoever buys the lease. The lease is only currrently on the market due to the previous landlords not paying rent owed to BW. The current manager is not being stung for repairs and there has not been an issue at all to do with repairs. Surely it would be worth asking BW about the current situation and not listen to rumours.
