What's this web site for?

Think of this website as an electronic noticeboard for the town. It’s here to help you share information about what’s going on. It’s called a “community” website because it’s here for the benefit of local people. Anyone can contribute.

Can I add something to the site?

YES! Get in touch here. We welcome any news, opinion or creative endeavour from anyone who lives or works locally. All we ask is that you stick to the house rules.

You can submit anything to do with Bradford on Avon: news articles, reports about clubs and societies, opinion pieces. You can submit questions you want to ask your fellow townspeople (a feature known as “AskBoA”). As long as it sticks to the house rules, we will be happy to publish it.

Who runs the site?

The site has been managed via Richard Read and Stephanie Ridout, Jacqueline Easby  and Hayley Stevens who  moderate and publish articles.

We work on the site in our spare time, on a voluntary basis. In the past, the site was financially supported by the Bradford on Avon Community Area Partnership. We accept adverts, which help pay the costs of running and hosting the site.

Who put you in charge?

We fell into it by accident. Richard was involved with earlier versions of a local community site. Wiltshire Council we’re involved early on, the BoA site is run independently by volunteers within the town. The website is run on the premise that it’s for the BOA Community & run / contributed by the BOA Community. We welcome contributions & participation from all members of our town, public, private, council, services.

Can I get involved?

We’d love to hear from anyone who’d like to help out. If you’d like to contribute articles, or help in any other way, please get in touch. Some knowledge of using WordPress would be an advantage, as would an understanding that you won’t get paid for your time.

If your a PHP developer, we would love a little help

How do I contact The Gudgeon?

The Gudgeon is Bradford on Avon’s local independent monthly newsletter. To contact The Gudgeon, send email to thegudgeon(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)btinternet.com

I sent you something about my shop or business, and you haven't used it. Why not?

This web site is for the benefit of the community at large. While we welcome local businesses that want to be a part of the community, we have to strike a balance between community news and paid advertising. We will treat each submission on its own merits. If your business is doing something that community should know about, of course it should be mentioned here. Your welcome to place an advert, which help cover our hosting costs by clicking here.
