About this site
What’s this web site for?
In short: it’s for you, and the things that are going on in your town. This site is here so that the people of Bradford have a way of sharing information with each other.
Can I add something to the site?
YES! Get in touch here. We welcome any news, opinion or creative endeavour from anyone who lives or works locally. All we ask is that you stick to the house rules. You can submit anything to do with Bradford on Avon: news articles, reports about clubs and societies, opinion pieces. You can submit questions you want to ask your fellow townspeople (a feature known as “AskBoA”). As long as it sticks to the house rules, we will be happy to publish it.
Something really important is happening! Why haven’t you written something about it?
We probably haven’t heard about it yet. Why don’t you submit an article about it?
Who runs the site?
The site is supported by the Community Area Partnership, funded by Wiltshire Council through the Community Area Board. These funds pay for hosting the site, and for a few hours of input per month by The Digital Partners; and Giles Turnbull, who is the moderator/editor.
How do I contact The Gudgeon?
The Gudgeon is Bradford on Avon’s local independent monthly newsletter. To contact The Gudgeon, send email to thegudgeon(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)btinternet.com.
Can I advertise on bradfordonavon.com?
Yes. Find out more here.
What’s going on with the new events calendar?
In the past there were two events calendars for the town – one operated by the Tourist Information Centre, and one on the community website. There’s no point doubling up effort. So we’ve got a copy of their calendar embedded in our pages, but if you want to add to it you can; just go to their web site and fill in the boxes.
I sent you an article but it’s not appeared yet? What’s up?
Because we do all this in our spare time, that means it might take us a few hours, or even a few days, before we get round to checking and publishing your contribution. Please be patient.
I sent you something about my shop or business, and you haven’t used it. Why not?
This web site is for the benefit of the community at large. While we welcome local businesses that want to be a part of the community, we have to strike a balance between community news and free advertising. We will treat each submission on its own merits. If your business is doing something that community should know about, of course it should be mentioned here. But in general, we will decline to publish stuff that’s just an advert for your products or services, and doesn’t has a clear community benefit.
I want to ask you a question
By all means. Contact us by using our email form
